User rights
Admins registered in the card program can suspend and close all cards within the company.
All other user roles can only suspend and close their own cards.
Note: System administrators have user rights for the System Settings section and can, e.g., manage users. They do not have any additional rights for managing cards or other accounting activities
How can a card be suspended or closed?
Go to the ‘Cards’ section in finway.
2. Select the relevant card.
3. Open the card options menu in the top-right corner.
4. Select the intended action.
Options
Suspend
The card will be temporarily blocked and can be reactivated at any time later. This feature serves primarily as a security measure. For further information, please see the section ‘Benefits of suspending a card’
Close
The card will be permanently closed. This action cannot be undone.
This action should be carried out when the card is no longer required, e.g.:
upon leaving the company
if card details have been compromised (e.g. through unauthorised access)
if the purpose of the card has been fulfilled, e.g. if the card was used for a specific subscription and this has ended
Report a card as lost or stolen (for physical cards only)
Both actions will result in the card being permanently closed. This action cannot be undone.
Select one of these options if your card has been lost or you suspect it has been misused. This action is the same as the “close” option.
Benefits of suspending a card
Card details within finway are always protected by security measures. The full card details (card number, expiry date and CVV) can only be viewed by the cardholder by completing an SCA procedure (e.g. PIN and SMS verification).
These details should never be shared with third parties. If they fall into the wrong hands, there is a risk of credit card fraud.
By temporarily blocking your card and only activating it when necessary, you can significantly reduce this risk.
Key benefits:
Fraud prevention
If your card is deactivated, stolen card details cannot be used.Security in the event of a data breach
Even in the event of a data breach, e.g. on a merchant’s website, your card remains protected as long as it is suspended.Greater control over spending
You decide when your card is active.Protection in the event of loss or theft
A blocked card cannot be misused.Fewer unnoticed debits
Unwanted or forgotten payments are prevented.
